Abstract The design of an orthogonal circular polarization axicon beam splitter (OCPABS) that generates orthogonal circular polarization states (OCPS) is presented. The OCPABS consists of an absorbing V‐shaped substrate coated with a transparent single‐layer thin film. The power reflectances range between 25.19 and 56.24% in the infrared (IR), visible, and ultraviolet (UV) light regions. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 28: 260–265, 2001.
