Abstract The volatiles isolated from the leaves and flowers of Inula viscosa (L.) Ait. were studied by means of GC and GC‐MS. The oil obtained by hydrodistillation was shown contain borneol (25.2%), bornyl acetate (19.5%) and isobornyl acetate (22.5%) as major constituents, whereas that isolated first by hexane extraction followed by hydrodistillation contained borneol (20.8%), bornyl acetate (48.7%) as main components and a small amount of isobornyl acetate (0.3%).
