Cortical visual impairment is amongst the key pathological causes ofpediatric visual abnormalities predominantly resulting from hypoxic-ischemicbrain injury. Such an injury results in profound visual impairments whichseverely impairs the patient's quality of life. Given the nature of thepathology, treatments are mostly limited to rehabilitation strategies such astranscranial electrical stimulation and visual rehabilitation therapy. Here, wediscussed an 11 year-old girl case with cortical visual impairment whounderwent concurrent visual rehabilitation therapy and transcranial electricalstimulation resulting in her improved visual function. This novel andnoninvasive therapeutic intervention has shown potential for application inneuro-visual rehabilitation therapy (nVRT).
