Civil construction plays a very important role in advancing the development of sustainable practices, as it is a major consumer of natural resources and also a generator of waste. As an integral part of this branch, the production of ceramic blocks as well as their use in works can be emphasized, as these can have, in their manufacture, waste of up to 10%; and in their use is a considerable portion of the materials lost in reworking and demolition. Therefore, the present article sought to evaluate the influence of the substitution of the river sand for residues from structural ceramic blocks could generate in conventional concrete, calculated to reach the resistance of 25 MPa, in the percentage of 5%, 10% and 20% in mass unit, observing the viability of this substitution. After the traces were run, as well as the tests of specific mass and compressive strength, and the analyzes were carried out, it was found that the substitutions had no influence on the compressive strength nor on the specific mass of the fresh state, since, statistically, the means of these data are the same, which makes this substitution possible. However, the specific mass data in the hardened state of the traces with substitutions were different from the standard trait, revealing that, in this respect, the aggregate of ceramic blocks influences decreasing values, and also the substitutions resulted in the reduction of the abatement, however still inside of the parameter set for the calculated trace.
