In order to contribute to the preservation of drinking water, this work has the objective of studying the feasibility of collecting rainwater for non potable purposes in an industrial laundry, located in the western part of the city of Manaus, Amazonas. In loco visits were made to obtain the average water consumption and for calculating the roof area of the laundry; and the pluviometric indexes of the region were obtained through a survey at INMET (2016). With the data, the reservoir volume was calculated by the methods of Azevedo Neto and Rippl, mentioned in the NBR 15527 (ABNT 2007) as well as the pluviometric intensity and flow rate of the system as based in NBR 10844 (ABNT 1989). The results indicated the impossibility of a catchment project to reach a demand of 450m3 due to the usable volume being lower than the demand of the enterprise. Therefore, it was proposed a catchment project considering a demand of 50m3 / month, and for this demand the proposed system proved to be feasible since it promotes the reduction of 600 m3 per year of drinking water and financial savings of R $ 969.95 /month. If implemented by the company, the return period of the investment will be reached in two years. In addition to the financial benefits, this study contributes to the environment by minimizing the pressure in underground reservoirs, saving drinking water and decreasing runoff in urban areas.
