economic, considering that in their morphology are aggregated systematically the actions of nature and society. The study in appreciation objective assess environmental and socioeconomic conditions of coastal watersheds of rivers Catu, Cabure, Caponga Funda, Caponga Roseira and Mal Cozinhado, which involve all or parts of the cities of Aquiraz, Cascavel, Horizonte, Pacajus and Pindoretama in the state of Ceara, to diagnose importance of the water and the main degradational scenarios. The theoretical and methodological foundation lies in the systemic studies, based on the bias of the conception and perception of the inseparable relationship between nature and society. Given the problems identified in relation to the negative environmental impacts configured in the combined coastal watersheds, high levels of degradation of land cover and contamination/pollution of water bodies, both point of view residential as industrial stand out due to poor and/or non-existent sanitation actions. In turn, the degradational characteristics can be considered triggers-tensioners for the current scenario of degeneration of natural once environmental systems, today anthropised. We conclude that subjective criteria should be replaced by more comprehensive and consistent analysis that give concrete subsidies to territorial planning at the metropolitan level.
