Kinder und Jugendliche sind den audiovisuellen Medien in besonderer Weise ausgesetzt und werden dadurch von einem standig wirksamen Einflus betroffen, den diese "geheimen Miterzieher" ausuben. Lebensausschnitte und Verhaltensmuster, Wissen aller Art und spannende Unterhaltung kommen uber Horfunk, Bildschirm und Filmleinwand zu den Heranwachsenden. Die "vermittelte Erfahrung", das "Leben aus zweiter Hand" ist jedenfalls zu einem wichtigen Bestandteil ihres Lebens geworden. Die Verlangerung des Gehorsinnes und Sehvermogens durch das elektronische Informations- und Unterhaltungsangebot hat zunachst zu einer enormen Ausweitung der Wahrnehmung und zu einem zumindest vordergrundigen Bewustsein allerlei Zeitstromungen gefuhrt. (...)  English  Children and young people have the opportunity of seeing screen adaptations of literary works in einemas, on television and in non-commereial centres like youth and parish centres. In the Federal Republic of Germany, there are about 7.000 of these nonpmfit film perforrnance centres which, when showing certain film, are often attended by a !arger audience than are the cinernas. In his article Anton Taubl analyzes aspects with regard to quantity and quality of films for children and young people, which are distributed in the Federal Republic of Gerrnany; furthermore, he emphasizes the multiplication effect of television. By some individual examples he demonstrates espeeially the consistently constructive co-operation between authors of children's books and scriptwriters. Screen adaptations of literary works are frequently based on current problems of daily life and less frequently on adventure and fiction stories.
