Con la firme intención de contribuir a incrementar y profundizar los escasos análisis comparados de las sociologías del Estado de Durkheim y Weber, máximos exponentes de la denominada teoría sociológica clásica, en este trabajo me interesa el tipo de relación teórico política que mantienen con la teoría marxista del Estado. Sus concepciones del Estado y las posiciones políticas que sostienen ante el materialismo histórico, ¿qué coincidencias muestran?, ¿qué discrepancias?, ¿cuáles predominan?This article is a contribution to the comparatively scarce literature on how Durkheim and Weber - those canonical sociological theorists - conceived of the State. I shall examine just what relation each of their conceptions has to Marxist theory, and ask to what degree they coincide or diverge
