Within the framework of geomorphosite assessmentwith reference to tourism potential, a new field ofresearch has opened up focusing on sites used for outdooractivities, like free climbing. This line of researchin particular focuses on the suitability of geological andgeomorphological characteristics of a specific site for aparticular sport. Concentrating on geomorphologicalhazard, rock quality, tourism capacity and site vulnerability, a method of assessment was designed and testedon a number of important Itahan climbing sites. Usingthe results of the Monteleone Rocca Dona (Sardinia,Italy), the article presents the proposed approach ofassessment. Although the site in question is recognisedfor its «scientific», «aesthetic» and «cultural value»,it has drawn attention for its attractiveness for rockclimbers in particular. Thus, the aim of the assessmentwas to support management of the site by proposingoptions for utüisation that are sensitive to both theneeds of the climbers and the environment in whichthe site is embedded. In particular, attention was givento potential geomorphologically-related risks forclimbers, the impacts linked to human presence andthe specific characteristics of the geomorphosite
