Mixing ratios of hydrogen peroxide and hydroxymethyl hydroperoxide weredetermined aboard the US Department of Energy G-1 Research Aircraft duringthe March, 2006 MILAGRO field campaign in Mexico. Ground measurements oftotal hydroperoxide were made at Tecámac University, about 35 km NW ofMexico City. In the air and on the ground, peroxide mixing ratios near thesource region were generally near 1 ppbv. Strong southerly flow resulted intransport of pollutants from Mexico City to two downwind surface sites onseveral flight days. On these days, it was observed that peroxideconcentrations slightly decreased as the G-1 flew progressively downwind.This observation is consistent with low or negative net peroxide productionrates calculated for the source region and is due to the very high NO<sub>x</sub> concentrations in theMexico City plateau. However, relatively high valuesof peroxide were observed at takeoff and landing near Veracruz, a site withmuch higher humidity and lower NO<sub>x</sub> concentrations
