The use of fluxes as sources of CaO and MgO in charge of blast furnace is a well known and established operational practice by producers of primary iron in the steel world. Practices can be found in the literature through published papers which are described and presented their benefits obtained. A long time that producers of primary iron for the blast furnace route, have struggled in the studies and developments of alternatives prepared loads through technical cooperation arrangements with the research centers and universities. Such agreements aim at improving the performance of the pellets and reduction reactors. The difficulty in producing self fluxing pellets with warranty in the maintenance of the necessary Conti Souza, J.B.; Scardini, N.P.; Pergentino, T.C. properties and enhancing the process of production of primary iron via the blast furnace has been the challenge as regards the assessment of the various ways to mitigate the detrimental effects of the flux agents addition containing high levels of the compound MgO, on the steps of the production process of pelletizing, thus ensuring a chemical composition, physical and metallurgical characteristics of the final product (fired pellet). The research plan aimed at developing a "new product", iron ore self fluxing pellets with high MgO content with superior characteristics to withstand the stresses imposed on the process of production itself, in handling and responding to requests during reduction steps, and softening and melting in blast furnaces, compared to use in replacing the additions of rich fluxes agents of the referred compound.
