The first account of the troglobitic crayfish Orconectes inermis inermis occurring in Indiana was by E. D. Cope, who in 1871 reported "Aswell.\" pellucidus"to inhabit Wyandotte Cave. Since this early account, thc crayfish has received considerable attention (Hobbs and Barr, 1972; and Hobbs. Hobbs, and Daniel, 1977). Yet, few data on its life history, behavior. and ccology are available (Jegla, 1965, 1966).
