El proposito de este trabajo consiste en una primera aproximacion al estudio de las motivaciones e intereses de un grupo de adolescentes que practica BMX Freestyle, considerado un deporte de riesgo y actualmente en auge, aunque su practica sigue siendo muy minoritaria. Se ha llevado a cabo un estudio piloto con 12 participantes varones, de 15 anos de edad, los cuales no estan federados ni compiten regularmente. Se pasaron los siguientes cuestionarios: 1o) cuestionario socio-demografico de habitos e intereses, 2o) encuesta de necesidades deportivas (E.N.D.), 3o) cuestionario de orientacion al ego y a la tarea en el Deporte (TEOSQ) y 4o) cuestionario de motivos de participacion deportiva (PMQ). Los resultados obtenidos muestran que nuestros riders (participantes de BMX), tienen una alta orientacion a la tarea, siendo para ellos el BMX una necesidad. Muestran una alta motivacion intrinseca, practican BMX por placer, por mejorar sus habilidades y por mantenerse dentro de un grupo de amigos el cual, obviamente les agrada. Es importante tambien el apoyo de los padres para tener una alta motivacion y la gran mayoria de los chicos lo tienen. Se presentan, por tanto, resultados relevantes para futuras investigaciones. The purpose of this work consists of the first approximation to the study of the motivations and interests of a group of teenagers who practises BMX Freestyle, considered a sport of risk and nowadays upwards, though his practice continues being very minority. A pilot study has been carried out by 12 participants 15-year-old males of age, which neither are federated do not even compete regularly. The following questionnaires were passed: 1o) socio-demographic questionnaire, 2o) inquiry of sport needs (E.N.D.), 3o) task and ego orientation in sport questionnaire (TEOSQ) and 4o) participation motivation inventory (PMQ). The results show that our riders (participants of BMX), have a high orientation to the task, being for them the BMX a need. They show a high intrinsic motivation, practise BMX for pleasure, for improving his skills and for being kept in a group of friends which pleases them. The support of the parents is important also to have a high motivation and the great majority of the boys have it. Relevant results appear, therefore, for future investigations. Key words .
