Aqueous extract (AE) from medicinal plant Artemisia camphorata (camphor) was used to evaluate the fungitoxic activity (by inhibition of mycelial growth, sporulation and conidia germination of the pathogen) and the resistance induction, aiming to promote alternative control of Bipolaris sorokiniana on wheat. AE in autoclaved or non-autoclaved concentrations of 1%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 50% was prepared with or without antioxidant (Na2SO3 – 0.25%). To evaluate resistance induction, 30-day plants were sprayed with AE and 24, 48 and 72 hours after the treatments the leaves were inoculated with pathogen (1 x 104 conidia/ml). 50% AE caused 39% of mycelial growth inhibition. 10% AE inhibited the fungus sporulation in vitro totally. Non-autoclaved AE inhibited only 20% of conidia germination but the autoclaved AE did not cause inhibition showing the presence of thermo-sensible compounds. The incorporation of antioxidant Na2SO3 in AE increased the inhibition of conidia germination. The camphor AE also induced systemic resistance in wheat plants, reducing the size (up to 29%) and number of spots (up to 60%). The induction was higher in plants treated with camphor 72 hours before the inoculation with pathogen. These results confirm the potential of camphor AE in alternative control of black point wheat.Com o objetivo de se realizar o controle alternativo de Bipolaris sorokiniana em plantas de trigo, extrato aquoso (EA) da planta medicinal Artemisia camphorata (cânfora) foi utilizado em bioensaios para avaliar seus efeitos fungitóxico (através da inibição do crescimento micelial, da esporulação e da germinação de esporos) e indutor de resistência. Utilizou-se EA em concentrações de 1%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% e 50%, autoclavado ou não, com ou sem adição de antioxidante (Na2SO3 - 0,25%). Para indução de resistência, plantas com 30 dias de idade receberam o EA através de aspersão e 24, 48 e 72 horas após os tratamentos, realizou-se a inoculação com uma suspensão de esporos do patógeno (1 x 104 conídios/ml). O extrato aquoso de cânfora a 50% causou a inibição de 39% do crescimento micelial, sendo que a 10% já inibiu completamente a esporulação. O EA não autoclavado inibiu 20% a germinação de esporos enquanto o EA autoclavado não causou inibição, indicando a presença de compostos fungitóxicos termolábeis. A incorporação de antioxidante ao EA favoreceu a inibição da germinação de esporos. O EA promoveu a indução de resistência sistêmica em plantas de trigo, reduzindo o tamanho (em até 29%) e, principalmente, o número de lesões (em até 60%), sendo observada maior inibição em plantas tratadas com o EA de cânfora 72 horas antes da inoculação com o patógeno. Estes resultados indicam o potencial do EA de A. camphorata no controle alternativo da mancha marrom do trigo
