The synthesis is described of I-3, II-3-bis-(methylthio)-I-4', II-4', I-5, II-5, I-7, II-7- hexamethoxy-(1-3', II-8)-biflavone (2) and I-3, II-3-bis-(methylthio)-I-4', II-4', I-5, II-5, I-7, II-7- hexamethoxy-(I-3', II-6)-biflavone (4), in one step from bichalcones 1 and 3, respectively, using the I2-Me2SO-H2SO4 reagent system.
