We describe the utilization of bile acids as hosts for molecular recognition and enantioselective enclathration during recent years in our laboratories. The optical resolution of different classes of organic derivatives, i.e., sulfoxides, epoxides, ketones, cyclic amides, has been obtained by host– guest enantioselective inclusion complexation. The salient aspects of the process, including Xray results, are discussed.
