A series of 2-amino-6,7-disubstituted-5-methyl-5,8-dihydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidin4(3H)-one derivatives were synthesized through one-pot condensation of 2,6-diaminopyrimidin-4-one, aldehyde and acyclic 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds in glycol under microwave irradiation without catalyst. The protocol in the absence of catalyst has the advantage of good yield (89-95%), short reaction time and being environmentally friendly.
