To the Editor: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) appears extremely rarely in African black populations1,2. To the best of our knowledge, no population-based data are currently available on the prevalence and incidence of PsA in the African black population in sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa. In South Africa, hospital-based prevalence studies, almost all of which are done in dermatology departments, show the prevalence of psoriasis to be about 2.8% to 3.5% in whites3.
