溶融アルミニウム内で0.01%の低炭素含有鉄球の拡散係数をtracer-diffusion方程式とautoradiography方法により求め得た。温度700℃, 750℃, 800℃, 850℃, 900℃に対し10分間拡散させ, 冷却後試料を切削方式により切削し, 熱中性子束0.877×1012neutron/cm2/secの間歇的な照射により放射化し, 59Feの放射能をautoradiographyで表わし, 光電密度により標準化したフィルムと比較して放射能に換算し, tracer-diffusion方程式であるA (x, t) =A0/ (πDt) 1/2exp (-X2n/4Dt) を利用し, 試料中のFeの拡散距離に対する放射能の強度変化を求め, 各温度に対する拡散係数D【t】を求めた。このDtはArrhneniustype方程式であるDt=D0exp (-Q/RT) から活性化エネルギーQとentropy項D0の値を求めるとD0=2.57×10-3cm2/sec, Q=4, 600cal/moleになった。
