E proposito deste artigo apresentar propostas de melhoria nas expectativas de aprendizagem de criancas de uma classe de quinto ano, de uma escola da rede publica estadual, quando transitam por situacoes-problema que envolvem o raciocinio combinatorio. Para tanto, foram implementadas sequencias de atividades que nos permitissem identificar como esses alunos desenvolvem esses problemas e, posteriormente, indicar propostas que poderiam possibilitar avancos na qualidade de suas resolucoes. A metodologia utilizada e de analise documental, por meio de pesquisa nos protocolos dos alunos, buscando vestigios de seus encaminhamentos e categorizando essas resolucoes com o proposito de inferir resultados que nos permitissem propor diferentes formas na abordagem do problema. O referencial teorico que sustenta o trabalho e a Teoria dos Campos Conceituais de Gerard Vergnaud. Foram utilizados, tambem como referencia, trabalhos publicados por alguns pesquisadores da area. Alem de contribuir para a melhoria da qualidade do ensino de matematica nessa turma, nossa proposta consolida o desenvolvimento profissional da professora envolvida. A pesquisa maior que encampa este trabalho tem financiamento da Coordenacao de Aperfeicoamento do Pessoal de Nivel Superior – CAPES ABSTRACT This article aims to present the improvement of learning expectations for fith grade children, from a public state school, when presented to problems involving combinatorial reasoning. For this goal, series of activities allowing the understanding of how these students solve these problems, and indicating ways to improve the quality of their resolutions were implemented. We used the documental analysis methodology, by ways of surveying the students protocols, finding out traces of their proceedings, and categorizing these solutions in order to infer results that allowed proposing different approaches to the problem. Our theoretical reference is the Theory of Conceptual Fields, by Gerard Vergnaud. Published works from some researchers of the field were also used as reference. Not only our proposal contributed to the advance of Mathematics teaching in the presented class, but also consolidates the professional development of their teacher. This project is part of a greater research, which is financed by Coordenacao de Aperfeicoamento do Pessoal de Nivel Superior – CAPES.
