Recent many peoples in competitive society are conscious of others and compares themselves with others. However prior studies argues that the more people are compared to others, the less happy they are. This study investigates whether social comparison orientation would be effect on life satisfaction. And the study explores that the materialism would be effect on life satisfaction. Also, the study explores that materialism could be a mediation role between social comparison orientation and life satisfaction. A total of 451 students were surveyed regarding social comparison orientation, materialism, and life satisfaction. As a result, we found that the higher social comparison orientation, the lower the satisfaction level of life. And it was found that materialism mediated between social comparison orientation and life satisfaction.
