Heart failure (HF) represents a major public health problem that generates important expenditures for the government, since the patient has recurrent hospitalizations that interfere with the levels of morbidity and mortality, in addition to being a syndrome with high chronicity. The present study provides the scientific community with the identification of nursing diagnoses prevalent in HF patients that may provide subsidies for nursing practice. The data for the study were collected from the patient's history located in their medical records at the Hospital de Messejana in Fortaleza-CE and then these data were analyzed simultaneously with the association of nursing diagnoses. Heart failure (HF) patients often experience physical, psychological, social and existential suffering; In addition, several symptoms are common and result in moderate to severe distress during the last 6 months of life in patients with symptomatic heart failure. Therefore, greater attention to symptom management and advocating for palliative care (CP) at the beginning of the HF trajectory can potentially reduce suffering from physical and psychological symptoms and decrease the suffering associated with this incurable condition.
