Tuberculosis (TB) is a very old disease. The first records of this infection date back to centuries before Christ. Today, tuberculosis is still considered a worldwide public health problem, although there are differences in mortality rates, declining incidence and prevalence between countries. In this context, the important role of a multidisciplinary team in the fight against tuberculosis and active search for respiratory symptoms is highlighted. The community health agent (CHA) is inserted in primary care in the middle of the Family Health Strategy (FHS), and represents the link between the community and the health team performs work in the technical dimension through monitoring actions of specific groups , prevalent and risk diseases, through home visits and health information based on epidemiological and clinical knowledge. In view of this, the importance of assessing the degree of knowledge of community health agents on the topic of tuberculosis is shown. Objective: To evaluate the performance of Community Health Agents (CHA) in four Family Health Strategies in Belém-Pará on tuberculosis before and after the training process on the topic. Methodology: Longitudinal, prospective, descriptive, quantitative study carried out in the ESF of groups A, B, C and D all located in the city of Belém, Pará, using the Handbook for the Community Health Agent as a reference for health education Tuberculosis of the Ministry of Health. A semi-structured, self-administered questionnaire was used, consisting of ten multiple-choice questions containing only one item with the correct answer. Results: A total of 27 participants were analyzed, where all were evaluated before and after an intervention proposal. When comparing the performance of the CHA in the knowledge tests after the intervention, it was found that groups A, C and D, showed a significant increase in the number of correct answers, with p <0.05, except in group B with p> 0,05. Conclusion: This research shows that the proposal for intervention and training of Community Health Agents is effective in improving their level of knowledge. Thus, it is worth emphasizing the importance of health education, especially within the scope of the Family Health Strategy, once the impact of this training on aspects relevant to treatment, prevention and other aspects of tuberculosis has been elucidated.
