800x600 O objetivo deste estudo foi captar associacoes entre internacoes por asma e a concentracao do material particulado (PM 10 ), como tambem estimar o possivel risco gerado pela poluicao do PM 10 . Utilizaram-se no estudo numeros de internacoes de criancas de 0 a 4 anos, residentes em 27 municipios da Grande Sao Paulo, SP; dados da concentracao do material particulado com diâmetro aerodinâmico a 10 µm e dados de variaveis meteorologicas (umidade relativa do ar, temperatura do ar, precipitacao pluvial e pressao atmosferica) no periodo de 2000 a 2010. Para detectar a associacao, utilizou-se um modelo marginal das Equacoes de Estimacao Generalizadas, considerando a distribuicao de probabilidade de Poisson , levando em conta a estrutura para a matriz de correlacao do tipo permutavel . Os resultados apontaram associacoes significativas e o risco das internacoes por asma aumentadas quase em duas vezes, para as criancas expostas as concentracoes do material particulado em relacao a criancas que nao sao expostas. Para modelar o provavel risco, agregaram-se ao modelo informacoes quantitativas, qualitativas, o tempo da emissao do poluente, e o da exposicao das criancas, combinado ao cenario meteorologico um dos principais fatores desencadeantes para as internacoes por asma. Foi seguido o padrao dos indices do Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente para a dicotomizacao das concentracoes do material particulado. Assim, foi possivel evidenciar a acao do poluente nas internacoes de criancas asmaticas como tambem verificar o modelo melhor ajustado para estimacao do risco. Were used in the study numbers of hospitalizations of children 0-4 years who lived in 27 municipalities in the Greater Sao Paulo, SP, data concentration of particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of 10 m and data from meteorological variables (relative humidity, air temperature, precipitation and atmospheric pressure) in the period 2000-2010. To detect the association we used a marginal model of the generalized estimation equations, considering the Poisson probability distribution, taking into account the structure to the correlation matrix of exchangeable type. The results showed significant associations and on risk of asthma hospitalization increased almost twice, for children exposed to concentrations of particulate matter in relation to children who are not exposed. To model to the probable risk, were added model information quantitative, qualitative, time of emission of the pollutant, and the exposure of children, combined with scenario meteorological major triggering factors for asthma hospitalization. It followed the pattern of the indices of the National Council of the Environment for dichotomization of concentrations of particulate matter. Thus, it was possible to demonstrate the action of the pollutant in hospitalizations of asthmatic children and also to verify the model best suited for risk estimation.
