Objective: to evaluate the policy of Integral attention to health in Sao Luis-Maranhao. Methods: the sample consisted of 10 (ten) nurses district coordinators Cohab, Bequimao and Center. Data collection in March 2013, pre-established days and times for convenience. Results: the majority of health units performs the policy of integral attention to health. Social and cultural factors related to organization of the service make it difficult to access health service preventive in nature, with emphasis on gender issues, such as the design of invulnerability, the shame and the fear of discovering a crippling disease. The barriers are related to the hours of operation of the units, number of insufficient professionals, educational activities and lack of training of health professionals. Conclusion: the Organization, execution and utilization of health services for the man doesn't seem appropriate. Is of fundamental importance that health policy is agreed with the National Policy of the basic attention, since the basic health units configured as the gateway of man health system, a new proposed model for health care.
