Este estudo trata da diversidade vegetal do riacho Canabrava no municipio de Uibai, estado da Bahia. O mesmo buscou compreender o etnoconhecimento da comunidade local sobre a diversidade vegetal do riacho Canabrava, levando em consideracao seus aspectos sociais, fisicos e culturais, tendo em vista contribuir com o desenvolvimento de acoes de preservacao e recuperacao da flora local. Para tal, foram realizadas entrevistas com 21 moradores da localidade com diferentes faixas etarias (criancas/adolescentes, adultos e idosos). Para a coleta dos dados, utilizou-se um questionario estruturado com oito perguntas, sendo as repostas dos entrevistados categorizadas e discutidas, conforme os referenciais teoricos apresentados. Com isso, foi possivel tecer um paralelo entre a diversidade pertencente a localidade em tempos passados e o atual modelo, indicando especies da flora tipicas do local como gameleira, jua, jurema, aroeira, quixaba, embauba, entre outras, e aquelas que estao ameacadas de extincao, como a canabrava, o murici, o puca, a manicoba, o araca, a sucupira, entre outras. Esse estudo pode contribuir para o resgate da cultura popular relacionada a diversidade vegetal mediante trabalho de parceria evolvendo a escola e a comunidade. Palavras-chave: Flora local. Preservacao. Cultura popular. ABSTRACT This study deals with the plant diversity in the Canabrava stream in the municipality of Uibai, Bahia. The same sought to understand the ethnic knowledge of the local community about the plant diversity in the Canabrava stream, taking into account their social, physical and cultural aspects, in order to contribute to the development of conservation actions and recovery of the local flora. To this end, interviews were conducted with 21 local residents with different age groups (children / teenagers, adults and seniors). To collect the data, we used a structured questionnaire with eight questions, and the answers of respondents categorized and discussed, as the theoretical frameworks presented. Therefore, it was possible to make a parallel between the diversity belonging to the town in times past and the current model, indicating species of typical local flora as gameleira, jua, jurema, mastic, quixaba, embauba, among others and those who are threatened extinction as the canabrava, murici, the dip net, manicoba, the guava, the sucupira, among others. This study may contribute to the rescue of popular culture related to plant diversity through working partnership evolving the school and the community. Keywords: Local flora. Preservation.
