A metal-free oxidative coupling/isomerization reaction of isocyanide and cyclic 1,3-dione has been disclosed. In the presence of di-tert-butylperoxide (DTBP), a series of isocyanides are subjected to reaction with subsituted 1,3-diones for direct synthesis of β-aminoenones. This strategy enables selective Csp-H functionalization with isocyanide, thus provides a new C-C bond formation from two basic chemicals.
