Improving the quality of learning is one of the improvements to the overall quality of education. Efforts to improve the quality of education are an integral part of efforts to improve human quality, both aspects of ability, personality and responsibility as citizens (Sutama, 2000: 3). According to Anies (via Asmani 2011: 37-39), the current educational process is like to place too much importance on cognitive aspects and ignoring creativity. The formulation of the problem in this study is how to improve anecdotal writing skills through the application of the Genius Learning strategy for tenth grade students of Kendaraan Ringan 1 SMK Negeri 1 Talaga, Kabupaten Majalengka. The subjects who received the action were the tenth-grade students of the Jurusan Kendaraan Ringan 3, totaling 32 students. The Indonesian language subject teacher who teaches is Sopandi, S.Pd. M.Si. This school choosed based on several considerations, low writing skills of the students. Based on the formulation of the problem and the results of the research as well as the discussion in classroom action research, it can be concluded that before the action was taken, the knowledge and ability to write anecdotes were still low. The practice of writing anecdotes has never been implemented because the previous curriculum did not contain material on anecdotes. The quality of learning to write anecdotes increased by using a genius learning strategy. The existence of positive improvements and changes in the aspects of the learning situation, attention, activeness, and the teaching and learning process make learning to write anecdotes more interesting, fun, and not boring.
