In 2016 China’s crude steel production was 808 million tons, accounting for 49.6% of the world’s total crude steel production.1) Iron ore sintering, a critical process for steel production, provides agglomeration for blast furnace. Raw materials used in iron ore sintering process are mainly iron ore, coke, fluxes, etc. The grain size of iron ore, coke breeze, fluxes is no more than 10 mm, 5 mm and 3 mm, respectively. Raw materials were uniformly mixed and then granulated in drums with required water addition to increase the average particle size.2) The process of iron ore sintering is the major source of NOx emissions, occupying about 40% of the total NOx emissions in the iron and steel industry.3) NOx removal in iron ore sintering industry has already become a significant research topic with stricter environmental protection policy.
