本研究で解析に用いたデータは,海洋研究開発機構で 開発され,CMIP5に提出されたMIROC-ESMの温暖化予 測データ(Watanabeら,2011)のうちの海面水位データ である.この温暖化予測計算は温室効果ガス濃度経路 (Representative Concentration Pathway; RCP)に基づいて 行われた.本研究では,複数のRCPのうち,RCP4.5と呼 ばれるもので,21世紀中の放射強制力を4.5W/mに安定 化させるものに基づく計算結果を用いた. 本研究では,過去の追算計算を行った1850年~2005 年の海面水位のデータセットと,将来予測計算を行った 2006年~2100年のデータセットを用いた.これらのデー タセットには,全球海域で計33,944の計算点(赤道付近 では緯経度1.5度間隔)があり,毎月1回の海面水位デー タが含まれている. 海面水位データの鉛直方向の基準点は各地点のジオイ ド面である.水位変化には,熱膨張の他に物理的(力学 的)釣り合いに伴う変化も含まれており,その結果,平 均的上昇と年間変動(季節変動)の両方が含まれること になる.なお,天文潮は含まれていない.
