1 Objectives The rapid growth of the population, especially in developing countries, has led to adulthood phenomenon. This has been conducive to one of the challenges of the public health. Therefore, it is necessary to pay close attention to this age group. Most of the problems suffered by this group age are psychological and physical problems. Psychological problems include disappointment, depression, and loneliness. Psychologists have taken different measures to improve these problems. However, after the emergence of positive psychology, scholars, instead of focusing on negative experience, deal with posi‐ tive constructs such as self-control, spirituality, happiness, and hope. Therefore, this study attempts to investigate the effect of hope-based group training on the life quality of the elderly. Methods & Materials The present study enjoyed a semi-experimental design with pretest-posttest and a group control. The population was comprised of all the elderly people in " Omid-e-Golestan Daily Center " in Minoodasht. The sampling was based on the available population of 60 individuals, of whom 30 were randomly selected and grouped into two groups of 15, a control group and an experimental group. To collect the required data, the 26-question Short Form Life Quality Inventory, developed by WHO, was administered. After implementing the pretest, the experimental group received hope-based group train‐ ing for 1.5 hours in 8 sessions, once a week. Next, the pretest was repeated for the two groups, and the data was analyzed using the Covariance Analysis. Results The findings of the study showed that hope-based group training significantly increased the life quality among the elderly in the experimental group. It was also found that training improved the physi‐ cal dimension of the experimental group. Furthermore, the psychological, environmental, and social life quality improved significantly (P≥0.05). Conclusion Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that hope-based group training could significantly enhance the life quality of the elderly. Since the number of this age group is increasing, the hope-based group training is recommended.
