On the Diurnal Changes of Dissolved Oxygen and pH in the Water of Sanaruko (Lake Sanaru). By 141. SIMIDU and Y. FuKATu Abstract:-The hourly observations of dissolved 02, pH in water and meteorological elements were made from 101 to 17111 Sept. at Lake Sanaru near Hamarnatu. From these observations we obtained the following results 1. The quantity of the dissolved 02 in the surface-and Im.-layers of the lake was supersaturated, the maximum value of 0. in the surface layer ap peared at 15 h. on 160, showing 808ce/L (1457%) and the minimum at 7h. on 172". and the amplitude of diurnal change of 02 was 2~35cc/L. 2. It is a remarkable characteristic that pH showed the value of above 9 (Thymol blue as indicator) all day long, and the value of pH was high at night. The feature of the diurnal change of phenolphthalein alkalinity nearly resembles that of pH. 3. As far as the present observation was concerned, we could not find out the remarkable relationship between the dissolved 02 and the some me teorological elements, it is still recognizable that an exponential relation exists between the value of dissolved oxygen and the mean velocity of wind.
