The nursery phase, which happens after weaning, is a critical point in pig husbandry, since weaning causes a lot of stress in the animal due to separation of the matrix, alteration of the diet and mixture of litters, which can lead to losses. Mitigate the negative effects of weaning is a challenge that receives increasing attention from researchers and producers. One of the possible strategies for reducing the problems of the day care phase, such as low weight gain, is the use of nutritional additives in the diet of these animals. The AminoGut (Ajinomoto®) nutritional additive consists of Lglutamine and L-glutamic acid, which are non-essential but limiting amino acids in the day-care phase, since they are directly bound to the integrity of the intestinal mucosa and are in high concentrations in the milk of the matrix swine. The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of the addition of AminoGut in the diet on zootechnical indexes. An experiment was carried out at the Agroindustrial Master São Roque unit, 560 nursery phase piglets, that were weaned at 21 ± 1 days, were distributed in 28 bays with homogeneous weights and separated according to sex, 14 bays with males, 12 bays with females and 2 mixed bays. The treatments performed were 0%, 0.4%, 0.8% and 1.2% inclusion of AminoGut in the diet of these animals. Weekly weighing of the bays and piglets individual weighing at two stages of the phase (42 and 63 days of age) were performed and weekly consumption per bay was measured. The zootechnical indexes analyzed were mean weight gain (GPM), mean daily gain (ADG) and feed conversion (CA), through the design of randomly distributed blocks. No statistically significant results (p <0.05) were observed for any AminoGut treatment. The only statistically significant difference was CA between the sexes (p = 0.004), where the bays that had only males obtained better value (CA = 1.716). Therefore, it is not possible to determine which level of inclusion of AminoGut is ideal to optimize the performance of nursery piglets.
