Purpose: This paper is to compare the supervision system of education between Korea and China to examine similarities and differences, and to explore policy directions of educational supervision in two countries. Method: Four criteria were used to compare the educational supervision systems of South Korea and China: organizational structure, composition and function of supervisors, supervision process, and characteristics of supervision system. Results: The results demonstrated that Korean supervision and Chinese supervision are different from the independence of supervision, the diversity of local supervisory organizational structure, the selection criterion of supervisors and the work load of supervisors. Conclusion: For The Korean supervision system, it should establish an independent supervisory institution, introduce a supervisor's certification system, reduce supervisor's work load, and introduce a citizens’ participation of supervisory activity. About the Chinese supervision system, the supervisory institution should be independent from the Ministry of Education; the local supervision system be more diversified; the recruitment of qualified personnel be introduced relating to the development of society; suitable work arrangement scheme to supervisors be redesigned; the supervision system be stabilized.
