Unpredictable weather conditions, such as rain, might cause some problems that can interfere with daily activities. Current water protectors have a form that is difficult to carry. Banana leaves, a very common plant in Indonesia, have the potency to resolve these problems. The waxy substance in banana leaves made them waterproof. This study aims to utilize the wax from banana leaves as a waterproof material that can be packaged in the form of a waterproof spray, making it easy to carry. The process was initiated by extracting the wax content from dried banana leaves with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and 96% ethanol, followed by isolating the extracted wax by cooling the mixture. Isolation of the wax from banana leaf using various solvents showed that the highest yield was 1.46 % when n-hexane was used. Various amount of wax in the waterproof spray were then investigated to study the optimum formulation. The result showed that using 3 grams of wax in the waterproof spray gave the lowest mass of water absorbed in the fabric, which is 0.64 %. After spraying, the optimum conditions for drying time are 180 seconds, where the % of water absorbed in the fabric by 0.65 % by mass, and the holding time to remain waterproof is more than 30 minutes.
