For this reason some anatomico-physiological :;ystems such as the neurohumoral regulation of vital livings have been presented ba:>ed on the extensively experimental and clinical evidences. As a consequence )f these ontogenic and neurologic considerations, the adrenal medulla is commonly regarded to be a modified autonomic ganglion, and its pheochromocytes 1re looked upon as homolog of postanglionic neurons. The secretory activity )f the adrenal medulla is so related to sympathetic innervation that these two ue considered to be a functional unit i.e. sympathico-adrenomedullary system. The sympathico-adrenomedullary system is, of course, one of the homeostatic regulator necessary to organism. When this system is activated by various ;tressors, such as muscle exercise, cold, emotional excitement, hypoglycemia md so on, the postganglionic neurons of the sympathetic nerves secrete noridrenaline, while the adrenal mdulla liberates adrenaline, a methylated derivative )f noradrenaline. In this report. muscle exercise and pain stimulus were adopted as non;pecialized and physiological stressors and the dynamic aspects of homeostasis 1pon them were studied from the view-point of carbohydrate metabolism with ;pecial reference to the sympathico-adrenomedullary system.
