This study uses egg shell waste recycling in a circular economy to improve indoor air quality and provide a healthy environment as a way to cope with climate change and the greenhouse effect caused by excessive use of the earth's energy. Eggshells are modified and activated into biological calcium at different calcination temperatures and duration. After the calcination of eggshells at 900 °C for 2 hours, the fine porosity crystallization structure is observed and analyzed using the “Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)” and the “X-ray Powder Diffractometer (XRD)”, the pore space is 0.48 mL/g-0.79 mL/g and the specific surface area is 2.42 m2/g-10.82 m2/g, proving its physical adsorption capacity. Its calcium content is 693 g/kg, Its PH value is 12.7, and the oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) is -196mV, showing its chemical adsorption capacity to neutralize, oxidize or catalyze. Based on experimental results, the modified biocalcium can adsorb and degrade formaldehyde carcinogens. After calculation, each unit can adsorb and degrade formaldehyde with a weight of 3.13 mg/g and decompose it into CO2 and H2O. This study can be a reference for further research on adsorption and degradation of other indoor air pollutants and applications and R&D on green building materials.
