It can be argued that one of the mankinds first faith crisis is the anthropomorphist understanding, which can be defined as the imagination of God in human form. Anthropomorphic understanding, which is the result of an attempt by the man to move away from divine knowledge and to understand god within the concrete world he lives in, has felt its impact in certain periods while the expansion of the borders of the Islamic state especially by encountering new cultures. Although there are different reasons for this contagion, the most important among them, are the lack of precise knowledge about the Arabic language, and the rhetoric and fluency of Qur’an. It is possible to talk about the existence of this approach which shows its effect in certain periods in the historical course, even in different forms in today's Islamic world. This understanding, which can also be describes as Neo-salafism goes back to the Hijri second century became systemtic after Ibn Taymiyyah and continues to exist in the Arab world and in their spheres of influence. This article deals with the emergence, development and impact of these approaches.
