In the 1970’s production, transportation and communication technologies were transformed. The problems of the Fordist system were overcome by the new communication and transportation techniques and “global production system” has emerged. With the “global production system” and Industry 4.0, product diversity increased drastically and companies were enabled to sell their products to the same target group. Therefore, products have started to be replaced by the new versions before they have completed their lives. It indicates the rise of a new logic of consumption. Consumption has become one of the main features of society and transformed into an essential component of the identity formation process. The changes in production and consumption not only affects the modes of production, working conditions and modes of consumption but also creates a new culture, in other words, a “new lifestyle”, “perspective” and a “mode of understanding and interpreting”. In scope of this article, the new culture is defined as “postmodern culture”. And, fundamental features of this postmodern culture which are the raise of vision and spectacle, hyperrealitysimulation and fragmentation, individualization and modular identity, were discussed.
