Theconcentrationsofergosterol,  typeAtrichothecenes  (HT-2 toxin,  T-2 tetraolandscirpentriol),  andtypeBtri - chothecenes (deoxynivalenol, 3-acetyldeoxynivalenol, 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol, nivalenol, fusarenoneX)weredetermined inthegrainsofthreewheatwintercultivarsofTriticum aestivum, T. spelta ,andT. durum .Thehighestconcentrations ofergosterol  (3.3 ×  10 4  μg/kg)  anddeoxynivalenol  (654.67 μg/kg)  werenotedinthegrainofT. durum . Ergosterol concentrationsdidnotdecreasefollowingthefungicideapplication. Theresultsoftheprincipalcomponentanalysis showedthatthequantitativeandqualitativeprofilesoftoxicmetabolitesinT. durum differedsignificantlyfromthose obtainedfortheremainingtwowheatspecies. Astrongcorrelationbetweentheconcentrationsofergosterolandde- oxynivalenol (r=0.920)indicatedthepredominanceofpathogenicfungiofthegenusFusariuminwheatgrain.
