The transport of Ni 2+  through an AOT-stabilised microemulsion-based organo-gel (MBG), located in between two aqueous regions A and B, has been studied. Using a mathematical model, the effective diffusion coefficient,  D  eff , of Ni 2+  ion was estimated to be in the range 5–7×10 −7  cm 2  s −1 .
