C14H10CI2N2NÌO2, monoclinic, P12j/cl (no. 14), a = 15.742(2) Â, b = 5.692(1) Â, c = 7.886(1) Â, β = 93.897(1)°, V= 704.9 Â, Z= 2,R(F) = 0.033, wRr^F) = 0.084, T= 298 K. Source of material 5-Chloro-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (0.2 mmol, 31.32 mg), isopropylamine (0.2 mmol, 11.8 mg) and Ni(Ac)2 (0.1 mmol, 17.7 mg) were dissolved in methanol (10 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min and then filtered. The filtrate was allowed to stand in air for 7 d. Yellow block-shaped crystals of the title compound were formed by slow evaporation of the solvent. Discussion The syntheses of nickel(II) complex with Schiff base have attracted considerable attention, mainly because of their potentially useful electronic, magnetic, biology activity and antioxidative activity [1-4]. Previously, we have reported on the synthesis of the bis[2-benzyliminomethyl-4-chlorophenolato-/c^V,0]nickel(II) [5]. The crystal structure of the title compound contains a mononuclear nickel(II) complex, with the two-fold axis passing through the centre (figure, top). The central Ni atom is coordinated by two O atoms and two Ν atoms of the bis-Schiff base ligand to form a slightly distorted square-plane, with angles subtended at the nickel(II) atoms in the range 86.1(1)° to 180.0(1)°. The Ni—O and Ni—Ν bond length are 1.837(2) Â and 1.843(2) Â, respectively, which are a little shorter than the corresponding values of 2.117(5) Â and 2.116(6) Â observed in a similar Schiff base niclel(II) complex [6]. The crystal packing of the title compound (figure, bottom), viewed along [010] shown that there exists a intermolecular weak hydrogen bond involving atoms Ol from the Schiff base and CI from the neighbouring Schiff base. We also can see that the different title complexes were interconnected by the weak Nil N l contacts [¿(Nil A··-NIB) = 3.396(2) À and ¿/(Nil A--Nl AC) = 3.396(2) Â] and by the weak interaction of the Nil A atom with HIB and HI AC.
