TlAg 6 O 8 ClO 4  has been synthesized for the first time by electrocrystallization. It is isostructural to silver clathrate salts like Ag 7 O 8 NO 3 , thus containing octacoordinated thallium(III) with d (Tl-O ) = 246 pm (Fm 3̄m , a = 1002.3(2) pm). The title compound shows temperature-independent paramagnetism, which appears to be caused by delocalization of unpaired electrons from Ag(II) into the conduction band.
