The diyne complexes [(Et 2 S)WCl 4 (R-C≡C-(CH 2 ) n -C≡C-R)WCl 4 (SEt 2 )] (R = SiMe 3 , n = 3, 4, 8; R = C 6 H 5 , n = 4, 8) have been prepared by the reaction of trans-[WCl 4 (SEt 2 ) 2 ] with the corresponding diyne in toluene solutions. The complexes form green or orange, diamagnetic, moisture sensitive crystal powders, which were characterized by their IR and  13 C NMR spectra. The crystal structure of the complex with R = SiMe 3  and n = 4 has been determined.
