The reaction of two equivalents of Me 3 Si—N=PPh 2 N=S(O)Me 2  (1) with SeOCl 2  proceeds with elimination of (Me 3 Si) 2 O to yield SeCl 2 [N=PPh 2 N=S(O)Me 2 ] 2  (2) as a white powder. Crystals of 2 that are suitable for X-ray crystal structure analysis have been obtained by recrystallization from acetonitrile. The structure of 2 shows very short selenium-nitrogen bonds.
