The reactions of pentacarbonylmanganese halides (CO) 5 MnX (X = Cl, Br, I) with the silyl- phosphanes Ph 3-n P(SiMe 3 ) n  (n = 1 -3) at ambient temperature result in the elimination of one CO ligand and the formation of c/s-configurated substitution products X(CO) 4 Mn{PPh 3-n (SiMe 3 )n). No CO-substitution, but Me 3 SiX-elimination is observed in the reaction of Ph 3-n P(SiMe 3 )„ with the dicarbonylcyclopentadienyliron halides CpFe(CO) 2 X to give the di- and triferriophosphonium halides [{Cp(CO) 2 Fe} 2 PPhR]X (R = Ph, H) and [{Cp(CO) 2 Fe} 3 PH]X (X = Cl, Br, I). The mass, IR and NMR spectra are reported and discussed. The crystal structures of Cis-I(CO) 4 MnPPh 2 SiMe 3  and [(Cp(CO) 2 Fe) 2 PPh 2 ]I have been determined.
