1-Isopropyl-2,3-di-tert-butyl-1,2,3-azadiphosphirane (1) was synthesized by [2+1] cyclocondensation of Cl(t-Bu)P-P(t-Bu)Cl with (Me 3 Sn) 2 N(i-Pr) at 75 °C. 1 could be isolated in pure state by fractional distillation and is stable at room temperature under inert conditions. The temperature independent  31 P NMR spectrum indicates that the arrangement at the nitrogen atom is planar, probably due to dative π-bonds from nitrogen to the phosphorus atoms
