Sr 2 Cu 3 O 4 Br 2  was prepared and examined by single crystal X-ray work. It is isotypic with Sr 2 Cu 3 O 4 Cl 2 ; space group D 4h  17 - I4/mmm with a = 548.9 and c = 1330.6 pm. A discussion of the result in respect of the octahedral distortion is given.
