In Gen 22,1.12 and Ex 20,20 »testing by God« and »fear of God« are not yet connected with a Dtr understanding of the law, as they are in Dtn 5,29; 8,2 f. Further, here Moses is not yet understood as a lawgiver but as a prophet, who leads Israel out of Egypt (cf. Hos 12,14). Gen 22,1–14*.19 and Ex 20,18–21 should therefore not be dated in the post-exilic period, but go back to circles that transmitted north Israelite judgement prophecy (cf. the concept of the hiddenness of God in Gen 20–22*).
