Most often a comparison between Danielic and Enochic apocalyptic has been based on an  analysis of the relation between Daniel and the Enochic Apocalypse of  Animals. This article argues for a relationship between Dan 7 and earlier Enochic traditions contained in  the Book of Watchers and the Book of Giants. Placing the throne visions  in Hen 14 and Giants 4Q530 ii as the background, almost  every word in Dan 7,9f. is covered. This creates an analogy  between those accused in the court scenes, the Watchers and giants in the  Enochic traditions and the monsters in Daniel. The monsters are in  Daniel given features similar to descriptions and depictions of demons in Mesopotamian  traditions, especially interesting are two throne visions. In the Book of Watchers the  giants are thought to live on in demons that cause violence and suffering.  Thus the Danielic and early Enochic apocalyptic share a basic understanding of reality:  The earth is under attack by counter-divine, demonic forces, causing terror and destruction among  humans. These forces are confronted by the righteous judgment of God. There are,  however, also significant differences in theological outlook  between the uncontrolled rebellion in the early Enochic apocalyptic  and the emphasis on God’s supremacy of history in Dan  7.
